The Consortium carries out the functions of promotion, enhancement, supervision, protection, consumer information and general management of the interests of the “Alghero” DOC appellation

In particular, in accordance with Law no. 238 of 12 December 2016, Art. 41, the Consortium for the Protection of Alghero Wines pursues the following aims:

• to put forward proposals for regulatory frameworks related to the appellation
• to provide technical assistance to producers
• to cooperate, in accordance with the directives issued by the Ministry, in the protection of the appellation from misuse, acts of unfair competition, counterfeiting, improper use of the protected appellation and any behavior prohibited by law
• functions of protection, promotion, enhancement, consumer information and general management of the interests of the appelation
• supervision, mainly focused on the marketing process, in cooperation with the ICQRF (Central Inspectorate for Quality Protection and Fraud Prevention)
