The Vines

Grapevines are a distinguishing feature of the Sardinian landscape, both in coastal and inland areas.

Their presence dates back many centuries: according to recent research, the earliest wine making practises in this area can be traced back to more than 3,000 years ago.

It is therefore not surprising that there is such an incredible wealth of varieties nowadays, which, thanks to the commitment and experience of Sardinian wineries, gives rise to wine production of the highest quality.

Within the “Alghero” DOC area we find both native grape varieties such as Cagnulari and Torbato (originally imported during the period of Catalan rule), as well as local varieties (Vermentino) and international varieties such as Sangiovese, Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet and Sauvignon, which have found an ideal habitat to flourish in this land.
