Die DOC Alghero Cagnulari (oder Cagniulari) ist für Weine mit einem Mindestanteil von 85 % Cagnulari und alle verbleibenden Fraktionen von Reben mit Beeren der gleichen Farbe reserviert, die für die Region Sardinien zugelassen sind. Zu den organoleptischen Eigenschaften von Alghero DOC Cagnulari gehört eine intensive rubinrote Farbe. Das olfaktorische Profil des Weines ist weinig, charakteristisch und am Gaumen trocken, leicht tanninhaltig und harmonisch.

Der DOC Alghero Cagnulari Wein kann auch als Riserva klassifiziert werden, wenn er einer Reifezeit von mindestens 24 Monaten ab dem 1. November des Erntejahres unterzogen wird. Zu den organoleptischen Merkmalen gehören in diesem Fall eine rubinrote Farbe, die mit der Reifung zu Granatrot neigt, ein weiniges, angenehmes, charakteristisches Geruchsprofil und ein trockener und körperreicher Wein am Gaumen.
